Odisha Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak bereaved

Bhubaneswar: Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak’s mother Nirmalprava Nayak, a litterateur, breathed her last at a private hospital here today.

Nirmalprava was the wife former MLA Rajkishore Nayak, popularly known as ‘Patkura Gandhi’.

Nirmalprava was a teacher by profession and she had received Sahitya Akademi award for her book ‘Sayanhara Smruti’. She had donated the cash award of Rs 1 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

The book had been unveiled by former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar. The book was also translated in English. She had also authored several other books and contributed to various magazines.

Nirmalprava was donating her pension money for conservation of cows. She was inspired by freedom fighters Rama Devi and Annapurna Maharana.

Nirmalprava was suffering from old age related complications for last few days. She was rushed to a private hospital here after her health deteriorated four days ago.

Nirmalprava breathed her last at 9.30 pm today, family sources said.

She is survived by her two sons and three daughters.
