Odisha Minister does a Yogi Adityanath! Find out how

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Bhubaneswar, May 9:

The Directorate of Legal Metrology under Department of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare of the state government today imposed penalty on five filling stations in the Odisha capital on charges of dispensing less fuel to consumers as compared to the reading displayed on the pumps.

Four squads of the Directorate of Legal Metrology today conducted surprise raids on 16 out of 52 fuel filling stations in the state capital on complaints of alleged tampering in fuel dispensing mechanism using electronic chips as was detected in UP.

“As per information provided by officials of the Directorate of Legal Metrology, squads have raided 16 out of 52 fuel filling stations in the state capital by this evening. Out of the 16 fuel stations raided five were found to be dispensing less quantity of fuels as compared to the unit displayed on the pump’s meter. These filling station owners have been fined as per provisions of the law,” informed Surjya Narayan Patro, Minister of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare speaking to reporters.

The Minister said more such raids would continue in the capital city and other places in the state as well in the coming days.

The Minister, however, clarified that all filling station owners were not unscrupulous. He said he had taken the cue from UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to raid filling stations after assuming office.

It may be recalled here that Patro was sworn-in as the new Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister on Sunday.
