Odisha: Minor boy dies after being ‘administered injection’ by quack

Nayagarh: A minor boy died allegedly after being administered an injection by a quack in Malisa village under Nuagaon block of Nayagarh district today. The deceased was identified as Rajesh Parida (10).

Rajesh’s father, Biswanath alleged the minor boy died after the quack, Pramod Kumar Rath from Durudura village gave an injection to the boy.

Rajesh was suffering from fever during past few days. However, his condition turned critical, following which the minor boy’s father took him to the quack at around 4 PM. The quack examined Rajesh and administered an injection.

After taking the injection, Rajesh trembled for a few minutes and then died on the spot, his father said. Seeing Rajesh’s condition, the quack advised the family members to take the minor boy to the Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital.

The quack also accompanied Rajesh’s family members up to the district headquarters hospital. However, when doctors declared Rajesh as brought dead, Rajesh escaped from the spot.

Meanwhile, the district headquarters hospital seized Rajesh’s body after receiving information.
