Odisha: Minor boy falls to death from hill while escaping bee attack

Bhubaneswar: A 15-year-old boy reportedly fell to death from a hill while trying to escape an attack by a swarm of bees in a forest in Sundargarh district of Odisha today.

The deceased has been identified as Rohit Kerketa of Kelo village in Jarada panchayat under Gurundia block of Sundargarh district, sources said.

According to sources, Rohit along with Phulakumar Kerketa (18) and Samir Dumdum (19) of his village visited a nearby forest in the afternoon.

The bees chased the trio after Rohit accidentally touched the beehive while roaming in the forest. Rohit slipped his feet and fell from the hill while trying to escape the angry bees. He died on the spot, sources said.

Phulakumar and Samir sustained injuries in the bee attack. The duo was admitted to Gurundia Community Health Centre (CHC). They are out of danger, said a villager.
