Odisha minor boy held for blackmailing using fake Facebook ID

Rourkela: The police arrested a minor boy in Uditnagar area today for allegedly blackmailing people using a fake ID in the name of Rourkela SP K.Siva Subramani on social media website Facebook. The minor boy was held from his house in Bolangir.

Official sources said the minor boy earlier opened fake IDs on Facebook in the name of former Collector of Sambalpur, SP Sanjeev Arora and MLA Jayanarayan Mishra. Through these fake IDs the minor boy used to dupe people in Sambalpur.

In 2017, the minor boy was arrested on charges of defrauding an industrialist of more than Rs 15 crore in similar fashion by using a fake ID in the name of a businessman from Balianta area in Bhubaneswar.

Following his arrest, the boy was sent to a correctional home earlier.

A police officer said, however, the boy again resumed his defrauding activities after being released from the correctional home.
