Odisha minor girls donate Rs 10,000 to CMRF from ‘piggy bank’

Bhubaneswar: At a time when Puri and Khordha districts of Odisha are battling the aftermath of cyclonic storm FANI and need every possible assistance, two minor girls of Bargarh have extended their helping hands by donating Rs 10,000 to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund from their ‘piggy bank’.

Manisarani Padhan and Lipsarani Padhan, students of Class-III and Class-IX, respectively and residents of Bausenmora in Bargarh yesterday met the district Collector and donated the amount to the relief fund.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has praised the two girls and described their act of contribution as an exemplary one.

The CM himself donated his salary of one year to the CMRF yesterday. He has also been urging one and all to donate their contributions to the fund for rebuilding the state and helping the affected ones.

One can donate to the CMRF online at cmrfodisha.gov.in.

Donations to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund are exempted from Income Tax under section 80G of the I.T. Act.

Leading digital payment applications Paytm and PhonePe have also provided platform for donating to the relief fund.
