Odisha: Minor killed, five injured in lightning strike while playing on swing

Sundergarh: In a tragic incident, a 10-year-old boy was killed and five others critically injured after being struck by lightning in a village in Odisha’s Sundargarh district today.

The deceased, identified as Mausam Nayak, along with five others were playing on swing under a tree at Subalaya village here this afternoon on the occasion of Raja festival.

According to reports, all six children were hit by lightning during a thunderstorm and, on being informed, the villagers rushed them to the District Headquarters Hospital where the doctors declared Mausam brought dead.

Five others are receving treatment at the hospital. Their condition is stated to be critical.

Following the incident, a pall of gloom has descended upon the village leaving the locals who are in festive mood in grief.
