Odisha: Missing OHPC General Manager found dead, kin allege murder

Bhawanipatna: Narayan Prasad Meher, General Manager of Odisha Hydro Power Corporation (OHPC), who had allegedly gone missing, was found dead at a secluded place near his office in Mukhiguda area of Odisha’s Kalahandi district.

The body was found in a decomposed state yesterday, four days after his wife lodged a missing complaint at the Jaipatna police station. However, kin of the deceased have now filed a fresh complaint alleging that Meher was murdered.

Locals today staged protest in front of the OHPC office by burning tyres demanding CBI probe into the matter and immediate arrest of the accused.

Kalahandi SP Battula Gangadhar said investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of death. Meher went to his office on December 17 around 10 am. His wife telephoned him multiple times around noon but the calls were unanswered. Suspecting foul play, she searched for him at various places, but in vain.

The office staffers told her that Meher left the office premises without informing anyone and didn’t return.
