Odisha MLA adds twist to row, says Kavita at his home

Bhubaneswar, Mar 18:

The day after Odisha’s twin city Commissionerate Police served notice on Sanatan Mahakud’s son Pankaj Mahakud in connection with a torture case filed by Kavita Mahakud – who claims to be his wife, Sanatan added a new twist to the tale by saying that Kavita is in his home.

“The name of my daughter-in-law is Kavita Mahakud. She is at my home,” said the Champua MLA speaking to reporters this evening.

On the other hand, the Bhubaneswar Mahila police yesterday sent a notice to Pankaj asking him to record his statement in connection with the dowry torture case filed by Kavita.

“We have served a notice on Pankaj to appear here in person and record his statement in the case under Section 160 of IPC,” said Bhubanwswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi.

It may be noted that Kavita, on March 1, had filed a case of physical and mental harassment against the Sanatan and his son-in-law Dinabandhu in the Bhubaneswar Mahila police station.

Interestingly, without taking any name on that day, Sanatan had said that his daughter-in-law was at his house and had refused to recognise the complainant.
