Odisha MLA Dilip Ray to quit BJP!

Rourkela: BJP legislator Dilip Ray is likely to quit the party over Centre’s failure to fulfill the long-standing demands of people in Steel city Rourkela.

Expressing displeasure over central negligence for construction of a second bridge on the Brahmani River and upgradation of Ispat General Hospital (IGH) into Super Specialty Hospital in the city, the MLA threatened to resign from the post and party as well.

Speaking to a leading news channel of Odisha, Ray said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Rourkela in 2015 had announced a second bridge over the Brahmani River to improve road connectivity. He had said that the IGH will be upgraded into a super specialty and medical college.

Even four years after his announcement, the projects are yet to be executed in Rourkela, Ray said.

He said that he had met the union ministers and officials to press the demands, but all went in vain.

“If the projects are getting delayed because of me, I can go to an extreme level,” Ray was quoted by the channel as saying.

He said that he will again approach the Centre over the projects. If immediate steps will not be taken, he will decide further course of action in four to five days.

“If the demands will be fulfilled by staying away from the party, I am ready to sacrifice for people’s interest,” he told the channel.
