Bhubaneswar: While protesting over the recent farmer suicide in Bolangir, Congress MLA from Jeypore, Tara Prasad Bahinipati today fell ill in the State Assembly. Standing on a chair near the Speaker’s podium, Bahinipati staged protest during which he suddenly fell down.
Bahinipati’s party MLAs immediately rushed to his rescue and helped the Jeypore MLA to sit on a chair. Following Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro’s directive, a doctor visited Bahinipati in the lobby of the State Assembly and treated him.
As per latest reports, Bahinipati went to his house after a check-up.
Two days back the Speaker cautioned Bahinipati against climbing the podium to stage protest as the legislator recently recovered from Covid-19.
Bahinipati underwent treatment at a hospital in Bhubaneswar and was then shifted to a Hyderabad-based hospital after contracted the coronavirus disease last month.
