Bhubaneswar/Khordha, Nov 3:
Odisha police today registered the FIR filed by Bolagarh Tehsildar Niharika Nayak against BJD’s Begunia MLA Prasanta Jagadev.
Nayak accompanied by office-bearers of the OAS Association had filed her FIR with Khordha SP Manoranjan Mohanty yesterday evening against Jagadev accusing him of assaulting her while she was discharging her official duty.
Mohanty has said that appropriate action will be taken after the probe.
“Complaint filed by Tehsildar Bolagarh has been sent to Begunia police station. They have been asked to investigate the matter and take appropriate action,” informed Mohanty to reporters.
On the other hand, the BJD has said that if charges are proved against the party MLA action as per law will be taken.
“Police is investigating the matter. FIR was filed late in the evening yesterday. Police after conducting an inquiry will take whatever action it deems fit. The law will take its own course and nobody will interfere in that,” said BJD spokesperson Surya Narayan Patro.
It may be mentioned here that the OAS Association had held a meeting at the Khordha Collectorate yesterday evening in which all OAS officers serving in the district had participated. The meeting deliberated on the allegation of Nayak being assaulted by Jagadev. Following which Nayak in the presence of office-bearers of the OAS Association had lodged her FIR with the district’s SP.
“MLA Prasanta Jagadev had forced me on the night of October 31 for eviction from an encroached land. I had told the MLA that I would take action in the morning after conducting measurement of the said land. On getting irritated the MLA threw a lantern which was there at the spot at me. It hit me on my body,” Nayak had told on Tuesday.
