Bhubaneswar: A delegation of 26 members of Odisha Legislative Assembly will head for New Delhi today to meet President of India Draupadi Murmu after she assumed the office.

The delegation led by Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha is scheduled to meet the President tomorrow.

The delegation includes 17 BJD MLAs, 6 BJP MLAs and 3 Congress MLAs.

Sources said it will be an official meeting with Murmu after she was sworn-in as the 15th President of India, the first President from tribal community and second woman President.

Draupadi Murmu belongs to the Shantal tribal community in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district. Earlier, she was elected twice to Odisha Legislative Assembly and was in Naveen Patnaik's cabinet as the minister during BJD-BJP alliance government.

The former Governor of Jharkhand won the Presidential Election defeating Opposition's Yashwant Sinha with a huge margin. She was administered the oath of office by the Chief Justice of India in central hall of the Parliament on July 25.
