Odisha: Mo Bus drivers, conductors to double as city guides

Bhubanswar:  To create a pleasant experience for passengers as well as tourists, Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA) along with Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) and Tata Community Initiative Trust (TCIT) has taken an initiative to transform captains (drivers) and bus-guides (conductors) of Mo Buses into iconic mobility ambassadors for Bhubaneswar.

Under the programme, 1600 drivers and conductors will undergo an intensive technology-enabled training programme designed and delivered by TCIT.

“The Government of Odisha intends to set new benchmarks in public transport service delivery. The captain and bus-guides will be trained as city guide,” said an official.

The inauguration of the pilot training batch consisting of 50 captains and bus-guides was held here today in presence of OSDA Chiarman Subroto Bagchi and Skill Development and Technical Education Secretary Sanjay Singh.

Bagchi said the programme to train the staff of Mo Bus is another unique programme being piloted in the state that will set new benchmarks. The model will be emulated by others in days to come, he added.
