Odisha-Mo Parivar cremates body of orphan Punjabi youth from Chhattisgarh

Bhubaneswar: The body of a 24-year-old Punjabi youth identified as Satpreet Singh from Chhattisgarh was cremated with the help of a non-governmental organisation (NGO) named Odisha-Mo Parivar, a spokesperson of the NGO said today.

According to the NGO sources, Satpreet had gone missing from his residence nearly eight days ago. Subsequently, the youth was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Bapu Guest House in Bhubaneswar. Initially, his body could not be identified as he belonged to the neighbouring State.

However, after a detailed probe, Odisha Police could ascertain Satpreet’s identity and informed to his sister and brother-in-law about his unnatural death, through Chhattisgarh Police.

Unfortunately, the parents of Satpreet had died prior to the untimely demise of the youth. On being informed by Odisha Police, Satpreet’s lone sister and her husband reached Bhubaneswar.

In the meantime, Sahid Nagar police had already contacted Odisha-Mo Parivar for the cremation of Satpreet. Accordingly, his body was carried to a local cremation ground in a vehicle of ‘Sesha Saathi’. In the presence of Satpreet’s kins, the body was consigned to flames.

Joint Secretary of Odisha-Mo Parivar Rudranarayan Samantaray consoled the bereaved kin and prayed that Satpreet’s soul may rest in peace. The NGO bore all expenses incurred for the cremation.
