Bhubaneswar: A physically-challenged elderly woman who had lost her right leg in a fatal road accident was provided today with an artificial limb by an NGO named Odisha-Mo Parivar in Bhubaneswar.
The accident victim identified as S Berisas Ayappa (72) from Buddha Nagar here is a daily wager. She met with an accident in 2002 when she was out to work. A speeding truck hit her and she sustained grievous injuries in the mishap. Later, she was admitted to a health facility for treatment.
However, doctors at the hospital suggested amputation of her injured leg. The elderly woman’s leg was amputated above the feet, thereby bringing her utter miseries in life.
Fortunately, Odisha-Mo Parivar contacted the elderly woman and took her to the Advanced Rehabilitation Centre (ARC) of Capital Hospital in Unit-6 for providing her with an artificial limb.
Berisas Ayappa thanked the office-bearers of Odisha-Mo Parivar for their generosity.
