Odisha: Month-long ‘Marine Drive Eco-Retreat’ festival from December 14

Puri: With an aim to attract more tourist footfalls in Odisha, the State government today decided to organize one-month long ‘Marine Drive Eco-Retreat’ Festival starting from December 14. A decision in connection with this was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the Lok Seva Bhawan here today.

The CM directed officials of the concerned departments to make the festival a success.

The festival will be held at a place, around eight km from Konark, on Puri-Konark Marine Drive.

A temporary luxury tent cottage with 50 rooms will be set up with water and electricity facilities. As per the decision, beautification of the festival area and lighting of the Marine Drive will be taken up.

Also, cultural festival, 3D mapping, food festival, adventure and water sports arrangement will be made for visitors, a release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office stated.

It is expected that the international-level programme at Marine Drive, development of Puri town and Shamuka project will help in development of tourism sector in Puri and Konark, the release added.

Among others, Tourism Minister Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi, Sports Minister Tusharkanti Behera, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy and secretaries from other departments were present in the meeting.
