Odisha: Mother-son duo burnt alive as looters set house on fire

Keonjhar: An elderly woman and her son were burnt to death as some looters allegedly torched the house inside which the two were sleeping at Kaligaon village under Nandipada police limits in Odisha’s Keonjhar district late last night.

The deceased have been identified as Janjali Jena and her son Banamali Jena.

According to reports, the two were staying at an abandoned Anganwadi centre in the village. Some unidentified miscreants, after looting a shop in the locality, set the house on fire after locking the door from outside.

The looters set the house ablaze as the mother-son duo had witnessed the loot. Both were charred alive and died on the spot.

On being informed by locals, police reached the spot this morning and started an investigation into the incident.
