Odisha: Motorcyclist killed in head-on collision; protest staged

Boudh: The locals staged road blockade after a motorcyclist was killed in head-on crash with a pickup van here this morning in the district.

The deceased was identified as Ganesh Behera, a resident of Gunduribida village.

The incident took place at around 9.30 am near Chari Chhak Bazar under Purunakatak police station on Sunday.

According to reports, the bike in which Behera was traveling collided head-on with a pickup van coming from the opposite direction in front of the SBI bank in the morning.

While Ganesh died on the spot in the road mishap, the pickup van skidded on the road.

The irate locals ransacked the vehicle and blocked the Khordha-Balangir NH 57 demanding compensation for the deceased’s family.

On receiving the information, the Purunakatak police rushed to the spot and convinced the protestors to free the road.
