Odisha MP Anubhav Mohanty booked for misbehaviour with woman journo

Cuttack: A woman journalist has filed an FIR against actor-turned-politician Anubhav Mohanty for alleged misbehaviour at Purighat Police Station, here today.

According to sources, the woman journalist was being harassed by the newly elected MP’s brother and therefore had gone to the latter’s Choudhury Bazaar residence on June 13 to complain of the same.

“Anubhav’s brother, Anuprash has been harassing me since the last two years. I had even discussed the matter with my husband. I had gone to their house last night to complain about this. However, Anubhav and his brother abused me, threatened me of dire consequences and spit on me. Today, I have filed an FIR with Purighat Police Station and I seek justice,” said the complainant.

A case under IPC sections- 294, 354 (A), 323, 34 has been registered against Anubhav and Anuprash based on the complaint filed by the scribe.

“At about 1:30 am in the night, one woman was shouting abusive words and creating a ruckus outside the house. I, along with my wife Varsha Priyadarshini tried to pacify her but no no avail. We were the ones who called up the police and requested the PCR to drop her home. We also told her that she could have come with her family members in the daytime if she wanted to have a discussion. It is strange that she was the one who was abusing yesterday, but has lodged a complaint against me for misbehaviour today. The entire state knows what kind of a person I am and how I behave with people. The matter is now with the police and let the investigation begin,” said Anubhav.

Anubhav quashed the claims and said that these were baseless allegations.
