New Delhi: Kendrapara MP and Ollywood Actor Anubhav Mohanty today filed a criminal complaint in a court in Delhi against Odisha Television Ltd, its Managing Director Jagi Mangat Panda and News Editor of OTV Channel, Radhamadhav Mishra. In his complaint, the actor-turned-politician accused OTV, its MD and News Editor of tarnishing his image by telecasting and publishing fake news about him.
Mohanty filed the criminal complaint under Section 190 read with Section 200 of Criminal Procedure Code, 1973 for the offence committed by OTV, its MD and News Editor under Section 500 of the IPC.
In his complaint, Mohanty alleged the accused has intentionally and knowingly insulted, defamed and humiliated him by circulating, telecasting, writing, publishing and sharing false stories, article and videos about him.
“The accused in connivance with each other with ill motive, malafide intentions and to gain the political benefits out of fake propaganda have harmed the reputation, good will and respect of the complainant,” Mohanty stated.
He also claimed that the fake news caused loss of mental peace, trauma and tremendous stress to him.
In his petition, Mohanty requested the court through his counsel Ashwani Kumar Dubey to take cognizance, issue summons, undertake trial and punish the accused and issue directions to lodge an FIR against the accused persons.
