Odisha MP Pramila Bisoyi receives ‘Earth Heroes Award’

New Delhi: Odisha Lok Sabha MP Pramila Bisoyi was conferred the ‘Earth Heroes Award’ for 2019 for her initiative to protect peacock at Pakidi hills near Chermaria village at Aska block in Ganjam district.

Bisoyi, the MP from Aska Lok Sabha constituency in Odisha, has been a part of this movement for over 18 years.

Under her guidance, women have devised ways to protect peacocks. They provide food to peacocks in jungles and ensure that the area remained free from poaching and encroachment.

Bisoyi was felicitated in the presence of Union Ministers Kishan Reddy, Babul Supriyo and others in Delhi.

Earlier she was awarded the ‘Prakruti Bandhu’ and ‘Prakruti Mitra’ awards by the Odisha Forest and Environment department.
