Odisha MP raises Naba Das murder in LS, demands CBI probe

Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: The sensational murder case of Odisha Health Minister Naba Das was raised in Parliament during Budget session today.

Raising the issue in the Parliament, Lok Sabha member Suresh Pujari demanded probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to crack the murder conspiracy.

The BJP MP from Bargarh Parliamentary Constituency slammed Odisha Government in the lower house for not handing over the probe to the CBI.

“Odisha Health Minister (Naba Kishore Das) was shot dead by a police personnel on January 29. He was the MLA of my Parliamentary Constituency too. We had studied together in college 40 years ago. However, 15 days after investigation by the crime branch, the state agency is yet to reveal the reason behind the murder,” he said in Lok Sabha.

“Even as the state government takes help of the Centre for various tests such as polygraph test and drone mapping, it hesitates for CBI investigation in the case,” Pujari said demanding, “CBI investigation to dig out the reason as to why the policeman killed the Minister.”

Health Minister Naba Das, who was representing Jharsuguda Assembly Constituency in Odisha, was shot dead in broad daylight by a police ASI in Brajarajnagar on January 29.

The police personnel Gopal Krushna Das allegedly fired at the minister while the latter was stepping out of his vehicle to attend a public meeting at Gandhi Chowk in Brajarajnagar.

The state government handed over the probe to the Crime Branch. The team headed by ADG Arun Bothra is investigating into the high-profile murder case from various angles.
