Odisha: Negative Covid test result mandatory for devotees visiting Shree Mandir

Puri: A negative Covid test result is mandatory for devotees visiting the Shree Jagganath Temple in Puri from tomorrow. This was informed by Puri District Collector Balwant Singh after a review meeting today.

Singh said devotees will mandatorily produce the negative Covid test result at a designated kiosk outside the temple. Residents of Puri town will also mandatorily produce the negative test result before visiting the temple.

Those who come from outside Puri will bring the negative Covid test report along with from their respective places, he added.

Around 15,000-17,000 devotees are expected to visit the shrine daily. No one is allowed to have ‘Mahaprasad’ on the premises of the temple, Singh said.

The temple reopened for servitors and their family members on December 23, 2020, after remained close for nine months due to pandemic situation. Residents of the Puri Municipality were allowed for ‘darshan’ of the deities from December 26-31, 2020.

Expecting rush of devotees the shrine was closed on January 1 and 2.
