Bhubaneswar: A Special CBI Court in Bhubaneswar sentenced the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan’s district youth coordinator Dillip Kumar Sahoo to two years of Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) in a 2011 bribery case.

The court held the accused guilty and pronounced 2 years RI as the quantum of punishment. The convict was also slapped with a Rs 10,000 fine.

According to reports, Dillip Sahoo, the then district youth coordinator of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan in Sambalpur, an Autonomous body under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, was accused of demanding bribe money of Rs 3,000 on March 16, 2011, from a complainant for appointment of volunteer in the National Youth Corps.

The CBI had registered a case on March 17, 2011, against the accused following an allegation.

Young men and women between 18 and 25 years of age were eligible to work as volunteers upto two years with an honorarium of about Rs.2500/- per month in 2011.

The CBI filed a chargesheet on May 16, 2012 in the case.
