Nimapada: Nimapada Tahasildar Rama Chandra Jena was found in possession of as many as five PAN cards during Vigilance raid, today.

More surprisingly, the PAN cards bore different 'Date of Birth' and 'Father's Name'. While the cards were being verified, Income Tax authorities have been informed about the offence.

The Tahasildar had involvement in two Vigilance cases in the past over illegal settlement of valuable land and issuance of patta, and illegal conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural land.

He landed in Odisha Vigilance net today after a huge cash was recovered from his possession.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Vigilance officials intercepted him at around 5.00 AM near his official residence in Nimapada and recovered Rs 4,65,000 in cash from him. During search at his government quarters at Nimapada on charges of amassing properties disproportionate to his known sources of income, the Vigilance sleuths recovered Rs 50,000 from the house.

Till the last report came in, simultaneous searches were underway at the official’s residence at Sector 11, CDA, Cuttack city and his native Dhanmandal under Garadpur Block in Kendrapara district.
