Bhubaneswar: Intensifying its probe into the alleged use of fake vehicle registration number by Chilika MLA Prasanta Jagdev on March 12, 2022, the Khordha Police has asked him to submit the original document of his Discovery vehicle by 5 PM on April 2, 2022.

Jagdev has been lodged in jail for plowing his Discovery vehicle into a crowd in front Banapur block office on March 12, 2022 injuring 22 persons critically. Following this, the locals thrashed the legislator and damaged his Discovery vehicle.

The Khordha Police said out of many other broken items inside the car, one number plate bearing OD 25 K 5775 was also there. The RTO was requested to inspect the vehicle and provide details of the vehicle, its ownership and mismatch, if any, between the registration number and chassis No.

On March 25, 2022, the RTO in its report stated the registration number on the damaged Discovery vehicle doesn’t match with the chassis no of the vehicle. Above all, its original registration number was OD 25 K 5775 instead of OD 02 AY 5775.

The registration number seen on the Discovery vehicle belongs to a Hyundai Creta vehicle.

The Creta vehicle owner was also asked under section 91 CrPC to produce the original documents of the vehicles by 5 PM on April 2, 2022.
