NIT, Rourkela director Sunil Kumar Sarangi today suspended CSO Balaram Champatiray on the basis of the preliminary report of the fact-finding team’s report.

Though Sarangi announced the suspension of Champatiray, students, however, remained rigid on their demand for a written order and an FIR against him with the police.

Earlier, on Thursday NIT authorities had debarred Champatiray from entering the campus until further orders.

A five-member fact-finding team was formed to probe into the incident from Thursday; the team submitted its preliminary report today. However, it will submit a detailed report within a week.

Notably, the NIT students on Wednesday had alleged that a woman security officer was sexually exploited by the institution’s CSO. In order to cement their allegations, the students had shown photographs and videos of the incident to media persons.

On the other hand, CSO Champatiray had the termed the allegations as baseless.
