Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has directed all bars under its jurisdiction not to keep bouncers, keeping in view crime records of many such security personnel in the recent past.
In an official release, the Information and Public Relation (I&PR) Department said various criminal cases have been lodged against many bouncers in the Twin City in the recent past. Such people pose a threat to the lives of of customers visiting the bars and can hamper peace in the society.
Keeping this in view, the CP has taken the stringent action against bar owners across the Twin City of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar for next two months, said the release.
Besides, the bar owners have been asked to mandatorily verify the background of their security guards from their respective local DCPs.
"Bar owners can hire security guards from private agencies. After appointing, they can share personal details of the security guards with the local police. They can do the same by dialing 112," the release added.
The order, which came into effect on March 11, will remain in force till May 9, said the I &PR Department quoting Police Commissioner Saumendra Priyadarshi.
