Bhubaneswar, Nov 9:
Peeved over non-participation of anyone from the AICC at the funeral ceremony of senior Congress leader Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra aka Lulu, some slogan shouting NSUI activists barged in into the hotel room of a star hotel in the Odisha capital today where Pradesh Congress Committee chief Prasad Harichandan, Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly Narasingh Mishra, AICC Odisha in-charge B K Hariprasad and his deputy Subhankar Sarkar were holding a meeting.
The NSUI members supposedly supporters of departed leader Lulu Mohapatra shouted slogans like ‘Delhi Neta Go Back’ and ‘Prasad Harichandan Hai Hai’.
The protestors threatened not to allow any Central leader of the party into the state.
The incident is a pointer to the factionalism within the grand old party in the state.
“Leader of the Opposition Narasingh Mishra and AICC general secretary B K Hariprasad was present in the meeting. We discussed panchayat elections and future programmes of the party at the meeting,” said Harichandan speaking to reporters after the meeting.
He, however, avoided questions on whether the incident indicated of factionalism within the party in the state.
