Puri: A large number of foreign tourists have flocked to pilgrim town Puri to witness world famous Ratha Jatra of Lord Jagannath this year, a report said.
Total 185 foreign tourists from different countries have visited Puri for Ratha Jatra, informed District Intelligence Bureau (DIB) of Puri police.
The district registered the highest number of foreign tourists from the US.
Besides America, the foreign nationals from around 25 countries including Russia, Canada, China, Japan and France have visited the town to witness nine-day long Ratha Jatra.
Notably, the Ratha Jatra of Lord Jagannath is found attracting people in other countries towards the holy town Puri.
Not only in Puri and India, the car festival is also being celebrated in more than 40 countries uniting people of different sects and religions on one platform to behold the divine act of Lord Jagannath.
This is only reason for which the visitors from across the countries and world throng Puri every year to witness the Ratha Jatra, source said.
