Cuttack: All Odisha nursing officers’ association today announced that all members of the outfit will wear black badges for the next three days starting tomorrow. They will launch a ‘cease work’ stir for an indefinite period across the State from July 24, in case their demands are not met.

With this, the ongoing faceoff between nursing staff and house surgeons aggravated a step further.

Nursing officers’ outfit countered the demands of medicos. Initially, the association will resort to a token protest and intensify the agitation thereafter, SCB Medical unit secretary Sarojini Jena said.

Worth mentioning, more than 250 house surgeons of SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack earlier declared that they would not join their duties. Accordingly, the house surgeons agitated in front of the SCBMCH superintendent's office against an alleged misconduct of a nursing officer, today.

Meanwhile, medical students in SCBMCH have extended their support to the house surgeons.

House surgeons and nursing staff staged protests in front of the SCBMCH superintendent’s office yesterday. They shouted slogans against each other. Later, representatives of the outfits separately met the superintendent for a discussion and put forth their demands but no solution was arrived at.
