CDMO Dr Jagat Krushna Samantaray misbehaved with them and threatened them when they had gone to him today to discuss the delay in getting their stipend and problems in the hostel, the nursing students alleged.

“Does anybody have the right to misbehave with students the way the CDMO has done? He has grossly misbehaved with us. He is a CDMO and runs hospitals across the district; doesn’t he know how to behave with students? Nobody has the right to misbehave in the manner he did with us,” Rakhi Panda, a nursing student, told the media.

The students have also alleged of misbehaviour by a clerk of the college.

CDMO Dr Samantaray has admitted to the incident and said that he had done it to discipline the students.

“Yes, I have done it. Don’t parents discipline their children at home? I have done that and I have every right to do that. I am their father and mother here. I will do it again. It’s up to me whether I will take action against anyone or not,” said Dr Samantaray.

The college’s clerk Padmini Das told reporters that she had never misbehaved with the students and had rather treated them like her sisters.

“I have never misbehaved with them. I don’t know why they are saying so. I rather treat them like my sisters,” said Das.
