Odisha nursing students ransack institute for delay in results

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Bhubaneswar, May 26:

Angry over inordinate delay in issuing of provisional certificates, registration numbers and mark sheets, B.Sc Nursing students today ransacked whatever came in their way at the premises of Neelachal Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) near Ram Mandir square in the Odisha capital today.

Following the publication of B.Sc Nursing results by Utkal University, students came to know that NIMS was not affiliated with the University.

Shocked to realize that they have been cheated by the Institute, students armed with sticks went on a rampage damaging furniture, cupboards etc. whatever that came their way.

Allegedly, B.Sc Nursing students who have completed their courses since 2011 have not been provided with provisional certificates, registration numbers, and mark sheets

“We should have got our certificates, mark sheets and registration numbers by 2015-16 but we are yet to get these. Students of our batch and junior batch after complaining to the institution’s authorities in vain have been forced to ransack the premises. They have been making us run for the last two months for these certificates,” said an agitated student.

On the other hand, NIMS authorities said that they are victims of the vindictiveness of Utkal University authorities.  NIMS Director Damodar Pati directly accused Director of Utkal University’s Development Council for the matter.

“NIMS is not a university, it’s an affiliated college. I would like to ask Utkal University authorities why affiliation to NIMS has been withheld,” said NIMS Director Damodar Pati.
