Odisha official commits suicide over ‘work stress’

Rayagada: A senior district official in Rayagada committed suicide allegedly over excessive work stress this morning.

The official identified as Shiv Prasad Panigrahi, an Assistant Collector of Rayagada district, was admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital, where he was declared dead.

According to reports, Panigrahi was suffering from depression due to work pressure. He had consumed malaria tablets in the morning.

It is suspected that the overdose of Chloroquine tablets claimed his life.

Panigrahi’s family alleged that he took extreme step to end life due to work pressure.

The cause behind his death will be ascertained after postmortem.
