Cuttack: Odisha Government dismissed Rourkela Development Authority (RDA) Legal Assistant Manoj Kumar Dash from service following his conviction in a Vigilance case.
Dash was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in Sambalpur under sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988/109 IPC for his involvement in a corruption case. He was dismissed from the job as per provision of OCS(CCA) Rules, 1962 after he was convicted by the Vigilance Special Judge in Sundargarh.
On July 26, the Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh, convicted Manoj Kumar Dash and sentenced him 2-year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000. In default to pay the fine amount, the court ordered him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months more for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988/109 IPC.
Following Dash's conviction, Odisha Vigilance had communicated in this regard to the competent authority to take appropriate action against the official. Accordingly, the RDA's Legal Assistant was sacked from the government service.
