Odisha: One killed, 16 injured as bus collides with car

Jajpur: A road accident claimed one life and injured 16 more as a bus collided with a car, on NH 20, here today.

According to reports, an AC coach bus was travelling from Rairangpur to Bhubaneswar when it crashed near Andhaari Chhak, into a car coming from the opposite direction, going to Keonjhar.

The impact rendered the driver dead on the spot while injuring more than 16 passengers aboard the bus. The khalasi and three others are in a critical condition and have been referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, according to Santosh Kumar Prusty, Medical Officer in-charge of CHC, Jajpur Road.

Locals and fire brigade officials rescued the victims and rushed them to the community health centre in Jajpur Road.

The police is conducting a probe into the matter and has sent the body of the deceased for autopsy.
