Odisha: OSD of Nuapada collectorate under Vigilance scanner for accepting bribe

Nuapada: A team of Odisha Vigilance sleuths today caught an officer on special duty (OSD) red-handed while he was accepting a bribe in Nuapada district.

The OSD identified as Narendra Kumar Chandrakar works in the Revenue Section of the collectorate in Nuapada. He has been apprehended by the Vigilance team near the collectorate while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 as the first installment out of an overall demand of Rs 46,000 from a complainant for processing a Settlement Revision File of his spouse and for issuance of RoR (land patta) in her favour from the tehsil office in Komna of the district.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two different places linked to Chandrakar from a disproportionate assets (DA) angle.

In this connection, Koraput Vigilance PS case [No-08 Dt. 27.03.2024 U/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018] has been registered. A probe against the accused OSD is underway.
