Odisha outfit ‘gifts’ toilet pan to Cuttack Municipal Commissioner; Know why

Bhubaneswar: Members of an outfit today adopted a unique way to protest against the alleged poor sanitation facility in Odisha’s Cuttack city.

Members of Subhash Sangathan brought a new toilet pan to the office of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) as part of their protest against poor sanitation in the Silver City.

According to the members of the outfit, the CMC has built a few toilet blocks in Cuttack. However, most of these toilets are yet to be thrown open for the common people, they alleged.

They also criticized the CMC for its alleged failure to improve the drainage system in Cuttack. The outfit has threatened to intensify its agitation if the CMC does not take immediate steps to allow people to use the newly-built toilet blocks before Bali Yatra, scheduled to kick off on the banks of Mahanadi river on November 27.

“We brought the toilet pan to the CMC office to gift it to the CMC Commissioner as part of our protest against poor sanitation in the Cuttack city. The CMC should take immediate steps to allow people to use the newly-constructed toilet blocks. Besides, the civic body should build more such public toilets in the city,” said a member of the outfit.
