Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Bhubaneswar, July 15:
The Supreme Court today asked the Odisha government to submit a detailed report on the investigation into the brutal chopping of the palms of two migrant labourers of Kalahandi district on December 15, within a period of three months.
The apex court, in a letter, asked the state government to conduct an RDC (Revenue Divisional Commissioner) level investigation into the case.
It may be recalled that the palms of two migrant labourers – Nilambar Dhangda Majhi and Dialu Nial – from Nuapada village in Jaypatna area were chopped off by a labour contractor and his henchmen late on December 15 last year after they expressed their inability to pay back the advance amount paid to them after they resisted the idea of going to work at a construction site in Chhattisgarh.
Three days after the incident, the police arrested the prime accused Parbesha Dungi and his associate and broker Bimal Rout in connection with the chopping of the palms of these two labourers.
It is not Piyalu Dhangada Majhi. His name is Dialu Nial. Please correct it
Thanks Mr Das for pointing this out.
The error is regretted and has been rectified.
