Odisha panchayat polls: 27,422 polling booths sensitive

State Election Commission (SEC) today declared total 27,422 polling booths as sensitive in the upcoming Odisha panchayat polls.

Special attention will be given on these sensitive polling booths for conducting the three-tier rural polls smoothly, said SEC.

According reports, the polls will be conducted in total 92,032 wards across Odisha, out of which 18,931 booths are considered as sensitive and 8,491 hyper sensitive.

The SEC has identified 1,076 booths as hyper sensitive in the LWE area of Kandhamal district.

The arrangement has been made for installing the CCTV cameras in hyper sensitive polling booths. Besides, the Collectors have been asked for videography of the polls in the booths.

“The scale of security will be beefed up as per the classification of polling booths across the state. The classification of polling booths has been made on basis of the police record of the areas. We will review the situation and take initiative accordingly”, said SEC Secretary Rabi Narayan Sahoo.
