Bhubaneswar, Jan 15:
The BJP will soon come out with a fresh list of star campaigners for the forthcoming three-tier elections in the state.
The new list will have saffron party’s heavyweights and functionaries from neighbouring states.
This was informed by BJP’s state unit pravari Arun Singh to reporters here today. He said the list has been finalized and the party will soon submit the same to the State Election Commission (SEC).
“In this election heavyweight star campaigners will campaign for the party. Chief Ministers and MPs from other states will participate in the poll campaign. Our party is a national party so national leaders will campaign and Odisha shares its boundaries with several states so Chief Ministers and leaders from those states will also join the campaign here,” informed Singh speaking to reporters.
“For the last 17 years people of Odisha are facing problems. Naveen Babu’s government has failed to deliver anything to the people of the state in these years. People do not have access to drinking water neither hospitals have medicines. There have been large-scale irregularities in the issuing of ration cards. Condition of farmers is not good. There is no employment. Youths are unemployed,” said Singh hitting out at the BJD government in the state.
“The BJD’s position at the zilla parishad zones is miserable. Despite MLAs, MPs and zilla parishad chairmen being from the BJD, no work has been done in the last 17 years of BJD rule. The wave here is against the BJD government. We will hold meeting in every zilla parishad zone. Hundreds of public meetings will be organized. Through these public meetings we will tell the people about the inefficiency of Naveen Babu’s government,” he added.
“We are taking the panchayat polls very seriously. BJP’s success in the panchayat polls will give a big jolt to Naveen Babu. This will nudge the government in the state out of its deep slumber. People will get a real picture of the state government which has been always in the habit of shifting the blame on the Centre,” Singh pointed out.
It may be mentioned here that the BJP had revised its star campaigner list earlier and this will be the second time it’s going for a revision. The party had first excluded the names of senior leader Bijoy Mohapatra and MLA Dillip Ray and had later included them in its revised list.
