Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal and state unit of BJP will hold brainstorming sessions tomorrow to discuss key issues and strategies in the run up to 2017 panchayat polls.

Chaired by party President Naveen Patnaik, BJD will hold its extended office bearers meet here to work out a strategy to improve the party’s image on the face of recent allegations against its leaders in connection with chit fund scam, NFSA irregularities, Motilal row, and Bargarh attack among others.

The meeting would be attended by leaders from grass root level as well.

A day before the main meeting, top leaders of the party met in Bhubaneswar today to discuss the agenda.

According to party Spokesperson Pratap Deb, Central neglect will be a key issue for discussion tomorrow. Besides, Chhattisgarh barrage issue, minimum support price of paddy would also be taken up.

“What the Central Government promised, what they have delivered so far and how the State Government is being neglected will be discussed thoroughly. Besides, we will specifically lay emphasis on the issues pertaining to women and the youth,” said Deb.

“Given the looming panchayat polls, we might take it up as an agenda for discussion too. It is part of the organisational meet,” he added.

Quite like the ruling party, BJP will also hold a meeting of its top state and district level officer bearers tomorrow. The party will work on a strategy to counter BJD’s ‘Central neglect’ allegations among others in the meeting.

“BJP state and district level executives will hold a meeting tomorrow. We are planning to hold large events and stage large demonstrations at district level across the state through August and September to wake this anti-people government up,” said BJP’s Odisha in-charge Arun Singh speaking to reporters today.
