Odisha: Pangolin rescued, five including 2 women arrested 

Berhampur: Busting a wildlife trafficking racket, police rescued a pangolin from the new bus stand in Gunupur of Ganjam district and arrested five persons in this connection today.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of police and forest officials carried out a patrolling and later nabbed the five accused including two women hailing from Puri and Bhubaneswar. The cops also seized a car and five mobile phones from their possession.

The pangolin weighing over 10 kg was later handed over to forest officials, who released the wildlife into forest.

Earlier on December 8, the Crime Branch had arrested four persons and rescued two pangolins from their possession at Ambadiha village under Udala police limits in Mayurbhanj district.
