New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Odia Samaj, a leading non-profit and socio-cultural organisation, is going to organise the most colourful celebration 'Odisha Parba' on September 1 in Surat.

After grand success of Odisha Parba organised for two consecutive years in 2017 and 2018 in New Delhi, Odia Samaj is eyeing Surat, one of prominent business towns, to portray the rich cultural heritage, history and legacy of Odisha to the people of Gujarat.

The two-day mega event will be kicked off at Surat International Exhibition & Convention Centre (SIECC), Sarsana, Surat.

Spreading over an area of 1 lakh 26 thousand sqft, Odisha Parba will showcase a grand spectrum of the beautiful coastal State through its enchanting Music & Dance, Traditional Arts & Crafts, Rich History & Heritage, and Authentic Food & Cuisine.

The true essence of Odisha will be presented with a style never seen before. Magnificent shades of Odisha’s colourful celebration will be felt in each and every corner of Handloom & Handicraft gallery, Food Court and a Live Stage every single day, said Odia Samaj in a release.

A replica of the chariot used in the famous Puri Ratha Jatra will be displayed just inside the entrance gate and Intricate applique work and pattachitra designs of Odisha will add more colours to the decoration.

The event will also feature an exclusive stall for sale of 'Jagannath Bhoga'.

Besides, the traditional Odia sweets and other food items including varieties of pitha, badi, papad, aachar, ghuguni, dahibara, chat, Odia thali, Odia paan from different corners of Odisha including Ganjam, Cuttack, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj districts that remind the aroma of one's kitchen back home in one's village will be displayed at food court during the event.

There will be around 15 stalls of handlooms and handicrafts showcasing various crafts and weaves from all corners of the State. The popular art and crafts including Dhokra, Appliqué, Silver filigree, Pattachitra, Paper Mache, wood craft, shell craft and jute items will be grand hit amongst both Odia and non-Odia residents of Surat.

Odisha’s traditional handloom sarees and dress materials from Kotpad, Barpali, Bargarh, Berhampur and Sonepur will be showcased at the event. Also, Khorda Lungi and Gamuchha will be on sale in the Odisha Parba in Surat.
