Bhubaneswar: The disciplinary action committee of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) today expelled at least five Congress workers for their alleged involvement in a previous ink attack on the party president Sarat Pattanayak, which took place on June 21.

The five expelled Congressmen are OPCC general secretary Prakash Mishra, Pradesh Mahila Congress general secretary Shriyasmita Panda, NSUI secretary Sandip Routray, Youth Congress state secretary Amresh Parida, and NSUI state secretary Aryan Sasmal.

A disturbing incident had occurred inside the party president’s chamber at Congress Bhawan. The attack was conducted by some workers and office bearers (Padadhikaris) of the party, which was an act of gross indiscipline and caused damage to the party’s image. Based on TV footage, OPCC expelled five Congressmen for six years for such anti-party and indiscipline activity, a letter issued by the disciplinary committee chairperson Santosh Singh Saluja in this regard mentioned.

Worth mentioning, a faction of Congress workers had raised slogans ‘Sarat hatao, Congress bachao’ while hurling ink at the PCC chief. They also threw ink on the door outside the chamber.
