Odisha people to get land documents through speed post

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to bring transparency in tehsil offices and provide hassle free service to people, the authorities decided to send the land ‘patta’ to the buyer through speed post service of India Post.

In this regard, a proposal offered by Revenue and Disaster Management department has been approved by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

An MoU between the Indian Post and Revenue department will be inked soon to offer the service to people through speed post, said Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Maheswar Mohanty.

With signing of the agreement with Indian Post, the ‘patta’ (a legal document for land ownership) will be sent to the land buyer through speed post service for which the beneficiary will have to deposit Rs 40 with the authorities.
