Odisha: Picnic bus collides with oil tanker; 2 dead, 15 injured

Sambalpur:  Two persons were killed and 15 others sustained injuries after a picnic bus collided with an oil tanker near Kayakuda under Jujomura police station near Sambalpur today.

One of the deceased has been identified as Shuka Das (48) of Gopalpur village under Balichandrapur block in Jajpur district.

Sources said around 40 people from Balichandrapur area had gone to Hirakud dam here for a picnic today. While returning, the bus they were travelling in was hit by an oil tanker near Kayakuda on Sambalpur-Cuttack NH-55. While one died on the spot, all injured persons were admitted to Sambalpur district headquarters hospital (DHH).

On receiving information, police reached the spot and began an investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, Sambalpur district Collector Samarth Verma and MLA Rajeswari Panigrahi met the injured  persons at the hospital.
