Odisha Plus II admission: Application process to begin by August 16

Bhubaneswar: Application for admission into Plus II courses in higher secondary schools will begin by August 16 this year, informed State School & Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash today.

“The application process for admission into different streams of +2 courses had started on August 21 last year. This year, the School & Mass Education Department has decided to start the admission process a week before the previous year’s schedule. We will provide one month time to applicants for application,” Dash told reporters.

As the evaluation of Offline Matric Examination-2021 is scheduled from August 12, the students who had appeared in the test will be given opportunity for admission into Plus II courses this academic session, he stated.

In view of students pass percentage in Class 10th results this year, the Department has requested to the Government recommending for increase of seats more than 55,000 in Plus colleges in the State.

“As the laboratory for students in Science stream is much important, we are reviewing the infrastructure in colleges. In this regard, a meeting was convened with the Principal Secretary on Friday. The infrastructure review of self-financing colleges is underway to determine how much the institutions can provide laboratory facilities to students. The data on the number of seats increased before the application will be available on the official website of SAMS Odisha,” the Minister said assuring that the students will not face any inconveniences for seats.

On reopening of schools for Class 9 students in the State, Dash said that the COVID guidelines/SOP that had been issued for the Class 10 and 12, will be applicable to the Class 9 for conducting the physical classes in schools.

The schools for students of Class 9 are scheduled to reopen from August 16 after four months of lockdown in Odisha.
