Odisha Plus II Arts Exam 2020 Results: Pass percentage stands at 67.56%

Bhubaneswar: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) Odisha declared results of Plus II Arts Examination-2020 today. The pass percentage of students stands at 67.56%, an increase by 1.67% against last year’s 65.89%.

The results were announced at the CHSE office through virtual mode at 4.00 PM. The students can check their scores on the two official websites orissaresults.nic.in and chseodisha.nic.in.

Total 2,19,716 candidates had appeared in the examination in Arts stream, of which 1,48,452 candidates have successfully cleared the annual intermediate examination this year.

Of total examinees, 22,196 (14.95%) have scored first division, 26027 (17.53%) in second division and 100101 (67.43%) students have passed the examination with third division.

While Bargarh district registered the highest pass percentage of 76.63 in Odisha, Nabarangpur is the poor performing district with pass percentage of 44.67 only.

The girl students once again outshone the boys in the examination this year. While 92,686 (75.48%) girl students have cleared the examination, the number boys passed the examination is 55,766 (57.53%).

Worth mentioning, Plus II examination (Arts) was conducted in March this year. However, some papers,including  Economics, Anthropology, Geography and Sociology were cancelled due to COVID-19 outbreak. For the cancelled papers, the CHSE had announced a new evaluation scheme under which a student who had appeared in five subjects, his average marks was decided based on his top three scores. While a student who had managed to appear in four papers, his average was calculated as per the top two scores.

CHSE officials had earlier said that students, who are unhappy with their marks, can appear for improvement examination once the COVID-19 crisis subsides.

Results for Commerce and Science streams have already been released. The pass percentage of Science stream stood at 70.21 and  74.95 % for Commerce stream.
